Great Weather...

The weather this past weekend was just perfect for some good old fun.

Saturday saw the first annual Cranksgiving. This event was a charitable bike ride which had riders leaving from the Bike Masters bicycle store and visiting 10 different stores and purchasing a minimum 10 different items. The event was organized by Bryan Redemske, who modeled it after a similar event in Des Moines, Iowa. The time, effort, and love that he put into this event was evident by the amount of fun everyone had. Just a little after noon, everyone was off to get the goodies on their list. People with bob trailers, backpacks, ditty bags, and some with their own kids in tow were scattering through town. The official report was that 770 pounds of food was collected. There were even some turkeys and 25 pound bags of flour that were purchased and carried on bikes. One of the people toting one of the bags of flour and had a slight tear in the bag. Needless to say the bike and rider were covered in a white powdery substance.

After returning Bryan supplied some soup, sloppy joes, and other yum yums for everyone. The store even had one of those old fashion big wheel bikes (I have no idea what they are actually called), which Janna, Nicol, and myself got a chance to take for a little spin around the parking lot. Maybe one day I will get one for myself, but not at this time. hehe

Thanks again Bryan for a well organized event and a great time, you did a fantastic job. I look forward to doing it again next year, and I will definitely bring a bigger bag to carry stuff around. That cheesecake sure looked good.

Sunday saw temps as high as 73, and there was a cross practice scheduled in the park. I sure didn't want to miss it since there will be a big race this coming weekend in Lincoln. It sure was nice to ride around without getting cold. There was one slight mishap and that was around the tree obstacle. When attempting my remount of the bicycle, I didn't pull myself far enough forward and landed slightly behind the seat. Though some tender parts didn't miss the seat. Not a very comfortable feeling for a little bit of time. I finished out riding for just over an hour of time. I really wanted to go for a little longer, but I didn't follow my prescribed workouts the whole weekend and I didn't want to mess myself up too much for the coming race.

Well, sure hope the weather behaves for this coming weekend. Then one more race after that, which is Jingle Cross in Iowa City. Woo-hoo!!!

You'll have to find a way to win cheesecake next year. Mmmm ... tasty!

And I think the old bike is actually called a high-wheel bike. Maybe.

Glad you could come -- we'll hook up for a ride sometime.
