That was fun...

After some serious thought and also wanting to get some time in with the new Guitar Hero 3 game, I decided to bring my bike to work and to my workouts over lunch. One thing Omaha does well is bike trails. I was able to ride from my office on Miracle Hills all the way to Bellevue and back without having to stop and wait for traffic or a traffic light. The weather today obviously added to the enjoyable ride, seeing all the colors the plant life was exhibiting sure made for a quick fun ride. Sure hope we have a warm fall and winter because I want to do more of that.

Now on to the fun. Guitar Hero 3. If you haven't gotten it yet, get it. It ROCKS!!! (Pun intentionally intended) hehe Ever since I bought the first want a few years back, these games have made playing video games even more fun. As if one could ever think it could get better. There is as good mix of classic as well as more modern rock songs to choose from. Better still, it is available on all gaming consoles. Hmmm....maybe we should get a teamFIRE winter video gaming party going. :) Just a thought, bet there would maybe be 2 people interested, including myself. I probably should put 120% instead of 110% of my effort into training for next year. Thankfully that's why I hired Marc , so I don't have to think about it. Things like this is so much easier for someone else to tell me what to do. Sometimes I really hate to think. I set myself some lofty goals and he's planning on kicking my posterior to accomplish them. Woo-hoo!!! I love self-flagellation. (Yes, I know it's whipping, but it's such a cool word to use.)

Well, back to the proverbial grindstone. Hope everyone is doing well; also, have a great Halloween.

Omaha + good bike trails? Huh? You lost me, man. There's no east-west! All north-south!

I'll have to trust you on Guitar Hero III. Rock Band sounds cooler -- you get to play drums!

bryan...well, North/South is fine for me, though with the winds coming out of the North now, I think maybe an East/West would be nice. hehe Though, I don't really ride in Omaha, might change my view soon enough.

Yea, I've heard about Rock Band and it looks wicked, though the price tag on that game is just a tad steep. Almost half the price of a new system.

All depends on your priorities, video games or working out. There is time for both. Like during recovery after a ride, mostly weekends, just sitting around. It's all about balance.

4 feet of snow = video game time.

The ultimate video game. Computrainer. If I was to buy a multisystem computrainer would people be willing to pay for its use. A year round training tool. Teams and individuals can train and race against each other. You want to ride any road in the USA I can set that up on a computrainer. Life like group rides on a video screen. The possibilities are numerous.

Marc - balance is something I have never been really good at doing. I always go gung-ho at something until something else interests me. I have been known to play video games more than 24 hours straight, just to solve it the day I got it. Now it's just playing when I'm not training. hehe

The computrainer thing sounds interesting and I probably would consider giving it a try, especially in the cold a$$ winter. I'm already hating riding in the cold.

gravy - 1/4" of snow or less than 50 degrees outside is video game time. hehe

Like you with video games I'm gung ho about cycling. That's what can make you a great cyclist. You know passion, dedication, committment and being driven towards a goal.

I can gaurenttee that nobody likes working out in the cold and dark. I despise it. I also despise lonely 3-4 hour rides on the trainer. Just like spin class, but with realistic data and video, the computrainer take a bit of that boring factor out of the equation. Can you say group ride to Cortland, Adams, Benett, and Lincoln on a 10 degree F day? That's what the computrainer can do plus more.

The whole computrainer system puts spin classes to the test. I'm working on it. Might even start off in a garage if that what it takes to get this going. Seems like people are interested in it, I've been taking informal surveys through spin class and local cyclist, but it would be a big monetary investment. It's a risk.
Sorry about the long post but it's a very, very exciting idea to me to maybe able to provide this to people. I've taught spin, done spin classes since '95 and spent many hours since '83 on a trainer. That's all UGH! This concept of indoor training is just freaking cool.
