Got back from Swanson a little bit ago. That was a blast, even though I was a DNF. My worst accident while mountain biking was today. Thankfully no broken bones, however it seemed rather close. Coming up to the second bowl, the chain dropped off the front and my feet were spinning out of control. To make matters worse I paid more attention to the fact I had no pedal power that I lost control and did a nice little tumble. My lower jaw on the right side decided it thought it could merge with the handle bars; also the back of my head smacked on the bike frame in the tumble and I literally saw stars.
After about a minute or so of recovery I thought I would just finish the race. How wrong I was when I picked up the bike. The seat was sitting five feet from the bike. So riding turned out to not be in the cards for me today. There are a couple of other cuts and bruises but none as bad as the one on my face. It's not very comfortable, especially eating.
The current thinking is that fate is trying to warn me about these races. Next time there may be a broken bone. A pox on the fates, I will keep doing this; however, I will exercise a tad more caution on my part and not try to worry as much about speed.
Congratulations to everyone who raced today. Now it's time to rest and get ready for the Beatrice race next weekend. Sure hope the swelling in my face stops; it's starting to look like a large plum.

Hey plumhead. Be careful. I think that might be the spot where I broke my collarbone. Lot's of broken bones in that park I keep hearing about.
No, he actually got a bit further into the woods...that's good and bad:) makes for a longer walk out.
Sorry Kevin! I saw you sitting there, being hurt and my heart went out to you but I had such a good race going and somebody was already there helping you. Glad you have no broken bones! Definitely some cool points.
Maybe you should stick with the road for a bit...
