Sorry for the slowness in updates, mostly it has all been about that one subject I do not wish to talk about. :)
Just to set the record straight, I am a morning person but in no way am I a morning workout person. Since I will be in Omaha today until about 10pm, I needed to make sure the dog wouldn't go too long without me being home to let her out; also, I needed to get my scheduled workout completed since I wouldn't be able to do that either. So, after getting up at 5:30 I let the dog out and got ready for a nice little ride. The sun wasn't up quite yet and there was a nice little nip in the air. I thought I would wait until the sun creeped up enough to start warming things; it didn't work.
Around 6:30 I jumped on the two wheeler and started pedaling. My awareness was not all there yet and I rode right into a nice little crack that sucked in my rear tire. Don't worry, there was no accident, I was aware enough not to panic and just rode out of the sucker; there was a nasty scrapping sound. Then as I applied the rear brake down the road, it sounded like my tire was no longer true. After inspecting it, that was the case. I will definitely take it in tomorrow and hopefully everything will be good to go for Saturday's TT. The ride went on though and the nice little chill in the air was making my nose run like an open fire hydrant. A runny nose that won't stop isn't a fun thing to have while riding. Though I think I would rather have that than the nasty wind that has kicked up since I finished.
Thank you to teamFIRE last night for a fun little ride. After doing a little more thinking on it today, I think I will be joining them. A great group of people who are just out to have fun and compete along the way. It's both a social and competitive club; this seems like a good fit for me at this time.
Tomorrow is my day off of riding, so I am going to spend it getting ready for Saturday's race. There is definitely some anxiety as I am looking forward to the whole thing. I am not looking for a win, especially since this is my first race; but just to go out and see how hard I can push myself. If anyone who reads this is going to be there, I look forwarding to seeing you there and good luck.

You just can't resist the shexy shiney teamfire shirts, right?
They are pretty sweet looking. I like 'em.
They are pretty spiffy. I was admiring Janna and Nicole's this morning.
Kevin, I applaud your enthusiasm and effort. Don't know what this TT will be like, but I'm just going to grit my teeth and do it.
Syd, promise no skin off yer teeth!
Welcome Kevin! We are both a cycling club and on our way to becoming a competitive racing team. Some may poke fun at us but they started at the bottom too. Thanks for being part of our club.
