P.S. I Love You...

With the road season at an end, the mountain biking season ending this weekend, and cyclocross starting and ending rather abruptly it's time to contemplate next year. Never have I been one to give much thought to planning things out, let alone in advance of more than a couple days. Things are going to be different for me next year. Oh, don't worry, I will still be riding until I am yawning in technicolor both in races and training. But I will no longer be sporting the green kit of teamFIRE.

After some seriously long thought and talking it over with other people, next year, I will instead be sporting the blue kit of the Elkhorn Valley Cycling Club powered by Monster. These are a bunch of great guys and gals with copious amounts of talent and I am looking forward to working and racing with them next year. My decision didn't come easy, but I wanted more of an opportunity to race with a team dynamic, and to grow as a racer I need to have that experience.

My time on teamFIRE has been great, the people were very welcoming and helped me learn and understand the basics of riding in groups and racing. I have only been riding and racing for just over a year now and without their friendship and support, I probably would have gone on to other things. Getting into cycling, not to mention racing, is not an easy thing and it can be very ego shattering at times as well. Great friends along the way helps immensely. I will still do my best to be a part of teamFIRE and help promote the Lincoln cycling scene; however, it will be on a club level instead. I always understood the FIRE in teamFIRE stood for First In Racing Experience, and it sure was that if not more for me.

Thank you to everyone on teamFIRE and I hope you understand my decision. I will miss the green, but the blue will now match my new road machine. :)

Okay, that's my one mushy post for the year. There may be some other good news coming down the pipe, but I'm not getting my hopes up. Will definitely keep you updated on that when I know more. How about a little teaser; if what I hope happens, happens, I will be commuting to work on my bike in Lincoln. That's all I will say about that.

Tomorrow is Taco Ride Night. Woo-hoo!!! There were some takers and we are going to have a great time. If there is anyone else who would like to come along, you can meet us at the Wabash Trail head between 5 and 5:30 PM tomorrow evening.

Also, either tomorrow or Friday I will get some pics up of the new cross machine and it's official name. This time I was able to name it before someone else gave it a silly name. Yea, you know who are. hehe

I sort of figured that was the one you were alluding to. Just wanted to do it justice instead of a small blurb.

This will be good for you to work with other racers on a team and I am very happy for you. I can't wait to see your new bike too, since I only saw the picture of it.

Aaaand, I don't know what the deal is with your job situation, but as much time as you'll save working in Lincoln rather than Omaha, if that happens, will be more time you can spend on the bike or doing whatever else you want. I hope that all turns out well for you on that end too.

Congrats Kevin! That is what teamFIRE is all about. Learn the basics, compete in your first race, be part of the Lincoln cycling scene and hopefully get invited to join a racing team. Congrats again! I hear someone else is jumping aboard on the revival of an old lincoln racing team.

Is your new job a professional bike racer?

Congrats, Kevin.

Too bad the Madone doesn't come in green.
