What the....

What is going on? I have had 3 flats in 2 days and one of them was on my tubeless, those replacement tires ain't cheap either. As for my training wheels, I put on a new tire over the weekend. Monday morning it was flat. No spare tube, so I put the tubeless on and headed out for the Blues ride, halfway there my rear tire gets a nasty gash in it. I limped home, went to the shop and got a new tube, should have gotten 2, and set up an appointment to get the tubeless fixed.

After getting home I replaced the tube in the training wheels. There was a small hole in the one I replaced, couldn't find out what caused it though. So I proceeded to put in a new one, and left it to its own devices until I got home from work on Tuesday. All seemed fine, it was holding the air I put in the prior day. I was good to go, so I headed out for a hammer fest that I was thinking would only be a couple hours, but ended up at three and a half hours. Ouch. I stopped to get some much needed gatorade and more water. When I came out, my rear tire was flat again. I inspected the tire on the outside, nada, nothing on the outside. I pulled out the portable pump, put some air in it, and it seemed to be holding. It held all the way back home. The whole ride was fun and I got one serious frakkin workout. Will probably do the same thing again on Thursday.

When I got up this morning, I checked the bike out and the tire was completely flat. Then I glanced over to my yeti and it's front tire was completely flat. I love a good mystery from time to time, but these have me completely perplexed as to the root cause. If there is a defect in the tire itself, hopefully I can get a free replacement since I bought it recently. Maybe it's just payback for me only having 2 flats last year. hehe If I can keep the air in the tire tonight, then it is off to the teamFIRE ride tonight. A nice easy ride is what the legs are wanting right about now. :)

Monday should have been fun. That south wind would have got you home in zero seconds flat... sorry, didn't mean to bring up flats again.

If you want a sturdy tire get a bontrager hardcase. They are what they're name implies " hard case" in more than just flat prevention. They aren't forgiving. Kind of rough at 120psi. Hard to get on a rim. Less flats means more time on the bike.

I won't preach about tubeless unless you want me to repeat myself. One good thing is your out there riding (and picking up all the stuff that would cause me to flat)

Gravy - you are the pun meister.

Marc - Funny thing is, the new tire is a bontrager hardcase. Sure hope there isn't any defect in it.
